그동안 여러 사설 클라우드 서비스 저장공간에 분산되어 있던 자료들을 모두 NAS 저장 공간으로 집결시키고 사설 클라우드에서는 속 시원하게 모든 자료들을 삭제했다.분산된 데이터를 NAS 한곳으로 집결시키고 나니 기존에 이용하던 사설 클라우드 저장공간이 또 다른 여유로 다가왔다.
그래서 사설 클라우드와 기타 저장매체에서 내가 사용할 수 있는 저장공간을 체크 해 보았다.
정리 해 보니 꽤 많은 저장용량이다.

비어있는 저장공간이 총 4,557.25 GB 바이트나 된다. 거기에 에버노트를 매달 60M 사용할 수가 있다. 약 4.6TB 에 가까운 여유 스토리지를 알뜰하게 써볼 계획이다.
사설 클라우드 서비스 중에서 구글드라이브와 원드라이브, iCloud 의 데이터는 NAS 로 자동 Sync 되도록 설정을 해 놓았으므로 휘발성 자료이건 보관이 필요한 자료이건 가리지 않고 생각없이 사용하다가 할당된 사설 클라우드 서비스 용량이 꽉 차게 되면 편한 마음으로 삭제해 버리면 된다. 그 동안에 구글드라이브, 원드라이브, iCloud 의 모든 데이터는 NAS 에 저장되어 있으니까.
에버노트도 마음껏 사용하다가 memory full 상태가 되면 모든 데이터를 지워버려도 아무 걱정없다. 에버노트의 모든 데이터 또한 NAS 의 NoteStation 으로 백업되어 언제든 열어보고 찾아 볼 수 있으니까.
맥북에 있는 자료들도 따로 정리할 필요 없다. 메모리가 꽉차면 그냥 지우면 된다. 맥북에 있는 데이터도 실시간으로 NAS의 Synology Drive 로 자동백업이 되니까 아무 걱정할 필요 없다.
휴대폰에 있는 사진, 음악, 문서 등 모든 데이터 파일조차 따로 저장매체에 일일히 옮길 필요가 없다. 사진과 동영상은 NAS의 moments 어플이, 기타 문서나 파일들 역시 NAS 의 DSDrive 어플이, 음악파일은 DSAudio 어플로 자동 백업이 된다. 휴대폰으로 아무 생각없이 마구 사진찍고 다운로드 받고 작업하며 사용하다가 생각나면 한번씩 파일들을 모두 삭제 해 버리면 된다. 어떤걸 보관하고 어떤 자료를 삭제할지 고민하고 선별하며 밤새는 일을 더이상 안해도 된다. 그냥 싹 밀어버리면 된다. 데이터 손실이 걱정될까? 차라리 휴대폰에 있을 때가 더 위험하다. 폰에 넣고 언제든 열어볼 수 없으면 불편할까? 그럴 걱정도 없다. NAS에 접속하면 속도 저하나 스트리밍이 끊기거나 하는 일도 없이 사진과 동영상을 보고 음악을 들을 수 있으니까. 그러니까 정말 아무생각 없이 정기적으로 그냥 싹 밀어버리는게 속 편하다. 그리고 계속 아무생각없이 마구 찍고 마구 다운로드 받고 하면 된다.
이처럼 NAS 에 다양한 매체와 다양한 기기의 데이터를 저장할 수 있고 시간을 내서 따로 자료를 옮기는 작업도 필요없이 기기를 사용하는 동안 지속적으로 백업을 진행 해 주니 정말 천국이 따로없다.
Dropbox 는 Scrivener 파일 자동 저장소로 사용하니 따로 떼어놓자. 아이패드와 맥북에서 만들어지는 수많은 글들이 여기에 차곡차곡 쌓일 것이다. 일정 기간이 지나면 자료를 한번 모두 삭제해서 비워주면 된다. 보관할 파일은 이미 NAS에 저장되어 있을 것이다.
Evernote 도 마음껏 사용해도 괜찮다. 용량걱정, 파일관리 걱정 없이 그냥 쓰기만 하면 된다. 솔직이 에버노트의 기능은 버리기엔 아까운 것들이 너무 많다. 사용은 편하게 자료관리 걱정은 없이 이것도 막 쓰면 된다.
Google Drive 에도 편리한 기능들이 꽤나 많다. Google Docs 에서 스프레드시트를 사용하여 Google finance 의 실시간 데이터를 불러들여 투자관리하는 용도로 사용하면 딱이다.
Onedrive 또한 편집과 편리한 노트기능들로 가득하기에 내킬 때 에버노트건 원노트건 잡히는 대로 사용할 계획이다. 자료 검색이 필요하면 One note에서 했나 Evernote 에서 했나 헷갈려 하며 검색할 필요도 없다. NAS에서 자료 검색하면 된다. Onenote도 Evernote도 모두 NAS 로 저장되어 있으니까.
어떤 일에서나 창구를 하나로 통일시키면 일이 매우 단순해 진다. 일이 단순해 지면 생활이 심플해 진다.
시놀로지 드라이브는 저장소인 동시에 오피스 기능과 탐색기 처럼 사용하여 파일을 관리할 수도 있는 어플리케이션이다. 시놀로지에서 무료로 배포한다.
Drive 를 이용해 데스크탑, 노트북, 랩탑, 모바일의 데이터를 내가 설정한 스케쥴에 맞춰 지속적으로 동기화 하여 저장 할 수 있다. 특히 양방향, 일방향 동기화 지정이 가능하다. 누적되는 데이터로 인해 디바이스의 디스크 용량이 부족해 지는 것을 신경쓰기 싫다면 일방향 동기화로 설정을 하여 NAS 에 디바이스의 데이터를 자동 저장되도록 해 놓고 디바이스에 있는 데이터들을 주기적으로 삭제한다면 디바이스 디스크 용량 부족 문제에서 해방 될 수 있다.
유료 사설 클라우드를 사용하는 것 보다 관리면이나 비용 면에서 NAS 를 개인 클라우드로 사용하는 것이 여러 면에서 유리하다. 보관 해야 할 데이터를 내가 직접 관리해서 보관 및 복원 할 수 있다는 점은 아주 큰 매력이다. NAS 는 데이터 보관의 안전성 또한 뛰어나기 때문에 안심하고 자료를 관리할 수 있다.
또한 모바일에서 대부분의 데이터 용량을 차지하게 되는 사진, 동영상, 음악 파일들을 저장 해 주므로 수시로 디바이스에 있는 파일들을 삭제 하여도 된다. 휴대폰의 사진이나 동영상 자료는 시놀로지에서 무료로 제공하는 Moments 어플을 사용하면 된다. Moment 어플의 활용 방법은 다음에 별도로 정리해 보기로 하자.
이 글은 NAS 의 활용에 관한 내용 이므로 설치 및 설정에 대한 것은 다루지 않기로 한다. 다음에 기회가 되면 세부적인 설정 방법들을 소개하기로 하겠다.

Synology Drive 에서 내가 가장 좋아하는 기능은 Synology office 이다.
Synology office 는 시놀로지에서 별도로 제공하는 어플리케이션이지만 Synology drive 를 실행하면 통합되어 실행된다. 파일 생성 메뉴에서 원하는 종류의 파일을 생성하여 작업 할 수가 있다.
워드, 엑셀, 슬라이드(PPT) 작업을 따로 MS office 프로그램을 설치 하지 않더라도 문서작업이 가능하다. 마치 Office 365 처럼 인트라넷 또는 외부접속을 통해서도 문서를 새로 만들고 편집하고 저장할 수 있다. 워드는 그리 많이 사용하는 편이 아니지만 엑셀 작업을 많이 하는 관계로 이동 중에 작업이 필요한 경우가 많았는데 Synology office 를 사용하게 되면서 더이상 MS office 365 의 도움을 받지 않게 되었다. MS office 로 부터 해방 되었다. 프로그램 패키지 판매에서 구독 체계로 전환하여 이용 비용을 지속적으로 요구받는 상황에서 벗어나 경제적으로도 자유를 얻게 되었다.
내 소중한 자료를 남의 손에 맡겨 관리해야 하는 불안함 에서도 자유로와 졌다.
나의 라이프 스타일 측면 에서는 매우 큰 혁신이 이루어 진 것이다.

My favorite function in Synology Drive is Synology office.
The Synology office is a separate application from Sinology, but it is integrated and run when you run Synology drive. You can create and work on any kind of file in the File Generation menu. Even if you don't install a separate MS office program for Word, Excel, and Slide (PPT), you can work on documents. You can create, edit, and save documents through an intranet or external connection, just like Office 365. Word is not used very much, but because of Excel work, it was often necessary to work on the move, but using the Synology office no longer helped by MS office 365 . Free from the MS office. The transition from program package sales to subscription systems has allowed economic freedom away from ever-demanding costs. Video station 은 Download station 과 연계하여 사용할 때 효용성이 더 높아진다. Download station 에서 torrent seed 파일로 파일을 다운로드 받으면 자동으로 폴더를 생성하여 저장된다. 생성된 폴더는 Video station 에서 인식하여 자동으로 인덱싱을 통해 라이브러리에 추가 해 준다. 파일을 다운로드 받고 다운로드 받은 파일을 정리하기 위해 폴더를 생성하고 생성된 폴더를 카테고리 별로 다시 분류하여 정리하는 번거로운 작업과정을 줄여 준다. 상당히 편리한 기능이다.
동영상 파일은 보통 용량이 만만치 않게 커서 usb 나 외장하드 등에 담아 가지고 다녔는데 이제 더이상 거추장스러운 장비를 소지하고 다닐 필요가 없어졌다. 아울러 휴대폰이나 노트북 등의 저장용량 걱정도 필요 없다. 모든 자료는 이제 디바이스에 저장하지 않고 NAS에 접속하여 열어볼 수 있으니까.
언제 어디서나 그냥 NAS에 로그인하여 보고싶은 동영상을 선택하여 플레이하면 끝이다.

Video station allows you to log in to your NAS from the outside and stream and enjoy saved video files.

Audio Station 을 이용하면 PC 나 휴대폰에 있는 오디오 파일을 자동으로 싱크하여 NAS에 저장 할 수 있다. Audio Station 의 주요 기능은 자동싱크 저장보다는 스트리밍에 있다. NAS에 저장된 오디오 파일은 외부에서도 NAS 에 접속하여 Audio station을 이용하면 오디오 파일을 재생 할 수가 있다. 시간, 장소에 상관없이 오디오 스트리밍을 즐길 수 있다.
휴대폰에서는 모바일용 앱으로 DS Audio (Android, Mac) 를 사용하면 NAS에 원격으로 로그인 만으로 접속하여 오디오 스트리밍을 즐길 수 있다.
IT 시장은 수시로 변화한다. 이러한 변화를 이유로 클라우드 서비스를 제공하는 통신사와 사설클라우드 업체는 상황에 따라 서비스를 바꾸기도 하고 때로는 요금제와 유료전환을 시도하기도 하며 어떤 경우는 서비스 자체가 폐지되기도 하는데 이런 사정이라면 소중한 내 자료를 마음놓고 장기간 보관하는데 전혀 마음이 놓이지 않는다. 적지않은 자료와 데이터를 상황에 따라 이리저리 옮기는 일도 엄청나게 번거로운 일일 뿐 아니라 데이터 파일 형식에 따라 업로드나 다운로드, 스트리밍 지원이 안되는 서비스 들도 있기 때문 입맛에 맞는 서비스를 찾아 자료를 옮기고 백업하고 도무지 잠시도 마음을 놓을수가 없는것이 현실이다. 마음에드는스토리지 서비스를 찾았다 싶으면(대부분 조건이 좋고 요구사항이 충족되는 서비스를 제공하는 기업은 신생 IT기업인 경우가 많다) 대규모 기업에 인수합병되어 서비스 질의 저하나 유료전환으로 이어지는 경우가 많은데 이는 마음놓고 개인 자료를 맡기는 데 썩 마음이 놓이지 않는 이유이기도 하다.
많은 클라우드 서비스 기업들이 기능의 제한이나 용량제한을 통해 Pro 서비스 또는 프리미엄 서비스인 유료 가입을 유도 하고 있다. 몇년동안 축적해 놓은 자료를 무료계정으로 유지하자니 초기와는 달리 사용중에 변경된 서비스 정책으로 인해 사용에 불편함과 용량한계가 있고 자료를 옮기자니 수백 GB 단위의 자료를 옮길만한 무료계정을 찾기도 어렵다. 게다가 이제는 한번 구입해서 사용하는것이 아니라 매월 요금을 내야 하는 구독 개념의 유료화가 이루어지고 있어 데이터 저장을 위해 평생동안 사용료를 내야하는 추세로 모든 서비스들이 바뀌고 있다. 언제 사라질지 모르는 것이 격변하는 IT시장에서 생존해 나가는 기업의 운명인지라 자료 저장에 대한 불편과 불안은 여전한데도 말이다.
이들 기업들이 클라우드 서비스를 통해 어떻게 수익구조를 키워 나갈 것인지는 불보듯 뻔하다. 우선 무료 서비스를 통해 사용자 수를 늘려 인지도가 확보되고 사용자들의 데이터가 어느정도 쌓이게 되면 위에서 언급했던방법으로 서비스 기능이나 용량의 제한을 걸어 자연스럽게 유료사용으로 유도한다. 네이버가 그랬고 에버노트, 드롭박스, 구글드라이브 등이 모두 똑같은 수순을 밟았다. 이 기업들이 노리는것은 차세대 매체인 5G 이다. 지금과는 비교할 수도 없는 규모의 데이터 용량이 필요한 5G시대가 도래하여 일반화 되면 지금껏 상상도 하지못했던 새로운 클라우드 스토리지 시장의 문이 열리게 될 것이다. 어마어마한 노다지시장이 다가오고 있는것이다. 구글과 마이크로소프트가 그렇게 클라우드 시장에 목을매고 있는 이유이기도 하다. 현대 IT기술의 발전은 생활의 불편함을 해소하기 위한 목적을 가졌던 산업혁명의 기술개혁과는 취지 자체가 다르다. 실상 더이상의 기술과 기능들은 불필요할 만큼의 진전이 이루어졌으며 현재 개발되고 있는 기능들이 없더라도 살아가는데 사실 큰 불편을 느끼지는 않는다. 하지만 기업들은 더 새로운 기술을 개발하는데 매달리고 있고 서비스에 새로운 기능을 얹어 가격을 올리기 위한 연구에 몰두하고 있다. 서로 경쟁하듯 자기가 개발한 신기능을 먼저 발표하고 시장을 선점하기 위해 혈안이 되어있다. 일반인들이 사용하기엔 지나치다 싶을 정도의 카메라 수준과 스피드, 메모리 등을 자랑하며 신제품 발표를 앞다퉈한다. 시장선점과 독점을 위해 수많은 특허소송과 수만명의 직원들을 째찍질해가며 신제품 런칭시기를 하루라도 앞당기기 위해 자금을 쏟아 부으며 전전긍긍한다. 빌게이츠와 스티브잡스가 IT세계의 새 시대를 여는 신개념의 큰 획을 그은 이후 이렇다할 혁신적인 컨셉의 변화없이 성능과 기능, 크기에 대한 지엽적인 발전만 거듭되고 있다. 이미 그 한계가 나타나고 있으며 이러한 한계를 느끼고 있는 기업이 차세대 혁신 개념을 가지고 준비하는 분야가 바로 클라우드 시장인 것이다. 네트워크를 통해 개인의 기호와 취향, 선호도를 파악하여 이용자를 붙잡아두는 AI 서비스 제공을 위해서라도 빅데이터 확보의 핵심인 클라우드 시장을 선점하는 기업이 세계 IT시장을 거머쥘 수 있을 것이라 판단하고 있는 듯 하다.
IT 시장의 흐름이야 그렇게 변해 가겠지만 개인 사용자의 입장에서 바라본다면 이러한 기업들의 움직임이 그다지 반가운 소식은 아닌듯 싶다. 기업이 노리는 것은 사용자들이 이탈하지 못할 미끼를 던져 소비자들의 주머니를 조금이라도 더 열어 영원히 마르지 않는 수익시스템을 마련하겠다는 계획이기 때문이다.
2020년 6월 상용 클라우드 기업의 사업전략에 대한 기사가 클라우드를 통한 기업의 수익구조를 잘 설명해 주고 있다. 참조하면 좋을 듯 싶다.
그래서 시놀로지 NAS DS918+ 를 구입했다.
초기비용이 만만치 않았지만 데이터보관에 대한 불안감을 안고도 평생 사용료를 내야하는 부담도 없이 안전한 저장방법으로 내 소중한 자료 보관의 걱정을 한번에 날려버릴 수 있었다. 4베이 16테라 바이트로 저장공간 용량 걱정은 오래동안 필요없을것 같다. 게다가 단순한 자료보관용이 아니다. 다운로드 스테이션을 사용하면 토렌트파일을 NAS에서 자체적으로 다운로드를 실행하고 다운로드된 파일을 알아서 저장해준다. 비디오 스테이션과 오디오 스테이션을 사용하면 나의 NAS에 저당되어 있는 파일 스트리밍을 통해 세계 어느곳에서라도 음악을 듣고 동영상을 볼 수 있다. 음악, 동영상 뿐 아니다. Docker를 사용하면 나의 IPTV 에 마운트하여 외부에서 실시간 TV시청도 가능하다.
개인 서버를 구축하여 사용할 수도 있다. 개인 서버를 가진다는 것은 꽤 많은 것들을 가능하게 해 준다. 메일서버를 구축해서 나만의 이메일 계정을 만들어 사용할 수도 있다. 음악방송이나 동영상 실시간 방송이 가능하며 개인 홈페이지나 상업용 온라인 쇼핑몰 운영을 할 수도 있다. 물론 다른사람과 공유와 협업은 기본적으로 NAS의 모든 기능에서 지원된다. NAS에 저장되는 자료는 파일스테이션을 사용하여 언제든지 업로드 다운로드 저장 삭제등의 파일관리가 가능하다. 드라이브스테이션을 사용하면 파일공유를 위해 더이상 유료 웹하드 서비스를 이용하지 않아도 된다.타임머신을 통한 맥북프로 노트북의 백업 공간으로 사용은 물론 휴대폰 자료 또한 NAS로 자동백업 설정을 해놓을 수 있다. 더이상 디바이스가 초기화되더라도 자료를 잃어버릴 걱정을 하지 않아도 된다는 뜻이다. 또한 휴대폰 저장용량이 가득차서 휴대폰에 저장된 사진이나 동영상파일을 옮겨 저장해야 하는 번거로움에서 해방될 수 있다. NAS는 사설 클라우드 서비스와의 동기화까지 가능하다. 구글 드라이브나 에버노트를 동기화해서 NAS에 자동저장되도록 할 수도 있으며 노트스테이션을 사용해서 에버노트와 양방향 동기화도 가능하다. 즉, 에버노트를 사용하지 않고도 노트스테이션을 사용하여 기록하고 메모한 내용을 편집 관리할 수 있다. 이 기능은 티스토리 블로그가 에버노트의 글을 불러오기 할 수 있도록 지원하기 때문에 상대적으로 편집기능이 우수한 에버노트에서 블로그 게시글의 초안작업을 해왔기 때문에 이 작업이 NAS에서 가능해 졌다는것은 나에겐 엄청난 지원군이 생긴것과 다름없는 일이 되었다.
또한 Virtual Machine Manager 를 사용하면 NAS에 가상 운영체계를 설치할 수 있어서 서로 다른 운영체계의 컴퓨터 여러대를 보유하는 효과를 누릴 수도 있다. 즉, NAS에 윈도우즈10, 리눅스, 매킨토시 OS를 설치해 놓고 장소와 시간에 관계멊이 지구 어느곳에 있더라도 여러 운영체계를 넘나들며 사용할 수 있는 놀라운 경험을 하게 해 준다. 이는 단순히 클라우드를 통한 자료저장의 의미를 넘어 장소와 시간의 제약에서 벗어난 생산성의 극대화를 가능하게 해 준다는 점에서 의미가 크다고 하겠다. 물론 나 혼자 사용하는것이 아니라 권한과 여러 계정을 부여하여 여러 사람이 동일한 기능을 동시에 사용할 수 있다는 점을 고려한다면 유료 클라우드 서비스와의 경제성 비교는 의미가 없을지도 모르겠다. NAS의 관리 조차도 인터넷이 가능한 곳이라면 언제 어디서나 가능하다. 웹에서 Quick connect 를 통해 로그인만 하면 NAS의 모든 설정 관리가 가능하다.
이처럼 내 집에 있는 인터넷 서비스와 NAS가 연결되어 있다면 이 모든 기능을 언제 어디서나 사용할 수 있다. 시놀로지 NAS를 통해 구현 가능한 기능은 크게 다음과 같이 여섯가지정도로 분류해볼수 있는데 기능별로 지원되는 우수하고도 강력한 어플리케이션을 무료로 제공한다.

내가 NAS 를 사용하는 목적은 궁극적으로 생산성의 극대화, 시간과 장소의 제약으로부터 자유로와 지는 것이다. 더이상 여러 장비들의 사용을 위해 사무실에 묶여 있어야 할 필요가 없다. 이동 하면서도 마치 가상의 사무실에 앉아 업무를 보는 자유로움을 찾을 수 있는 삶을 상상해 보라. 답답한 음악감상실이 아니라 광활한 대자연에 묻혀 새소리와 바람소리 물소리와 어우러진 아름다운 음악을 듣는 것을 상상해 보라. 별이 빛나는 하늘 아래서 스크린 가득 상영되는 멋진 영화감상을 하는 나를 상상해 보라. 세계를 여행하며 자료를 보내고 저장하고 다운로드받고 공유하며 협업을 하는 자유로운 인생을 상상해 보라. 경이로운 세계를 구독자들과 함께 실시간 방송으로 공유하는 감동적인 순간을 상상해 보라. 여행 중에도 클릭 한번으로 매출을 만들고 판매가 이루어지고 고객관리와 데이터베이스를 내 관리하에 안전하게 보존하고 있는 상황들을 상상해 보라.
꿈을 꾸는것이 아니다. 너무도 쉽게 실현 가능한 일이니까.

아래는 정말 별 사용성을 못느끼던 KT 엠스토리지의 서비스 종료 안내 문자를 받은 내용이다.
아래 내용은 일례이긴 하지만 수년간 사용하던 서비스 (구글 드라이브, 드롭박스, Box, 네이버, 다음, One note, 에버노트 등) 들의 폐지. 종료, 정책변경 으로 인해 잠시도 마음편할 날이 없었다.
KT 엠스토리지 서비스가 2020년 8월 10일 신규가입 제한을 거쳐 2020년 9월 10일 종료될 예정입니다.
사업환경의 변화로 지속적으로 서비스 제공이 어려운 사정이 발생하여 부득이하게 종료를 결정하게 되었습니다.
서비스 종료일 이후에는 폰백업 및 데이터의 업로드/다운로드가 모두 불가능하며, 종료일 이후 데이터가 파기될 수 있음에 유의하시기 바랍니다.
KT 엠스토리지 서비스를 이용중인 고객님께서는 2020년 9월 10일 전까지 KT 엠스토리지 서비스의 전체 데이터를 다운로드해주시기 바랍니다.
그동안 보내주신 성원에 진심으로 감사드리며, 본 서비스를 지속하지 못하게 된 점에 대해 깊이 사과드립니다. 더 나은 서비스로 보답할 수 있도록 노력하겠습니다.

어찌보면 매우 무책임한 듯 보인다. 당초 사용와의 약속이지만 법적 책임이 없다는 이유로 사업환경 변화를 이유로 사과드린다는 글 한마디로 일방적인 서비스 철회가 행해지고 있으며 (특별히 KT를 지적하여 문제삼는것이 아니다. 대부분의 유사 서비스들이 대동소이하지만 동일한 상황이다) 결국 제한된 기간 내에 데이터 이사를 해야만 한다. 나는 서비스 제공업체들의 이러한 일방적인 횡포(?)로 인해 그동안 보트피플처럼 데이터 이전 공사를 참 많이도 했다. 불평불만을 하는 직장인에게 "아니꼬우면 니가 사장하던지" 라고 하는 농담아닌 농담이 생각난다. 셋방살이의 설움을 그렸던 오래전 드라마 '한지붕 세가족' 이 떠오르기도 한다.
하지만 이제는 더이상 운영자의 사정에 따라 이리 저리 떠돌아 다니지 않아도 된다. 내가 직접 컨트롤 하고 관리할 수 있는 나만의 스토리지 소유자가 되었으니까.

Many cloud service companies are encouraging paid subscriptions, which are pro or premium services, by limiting function or capacity. Unlike in the beginning, keeping the data accumulated over the years as a free account is inconvenient and limited in capacity due to the changed service policy, and it is difficult to find a free account to transfer hundreds of GB of data. Naver did so, and EverNote, Dropbox, and Google Drive all took the same steps. What these companies are after is the next generation of media, 5G. That's why Google and Microsoft are so obsessed with the cloud market. The trend of the IT market will change that way, but from the perspective of individual users, these companies' movements are not very welcome news. The company is aiming for a profit system that will not dry out forever by throwing bait that users will not be able to escape. So I bought the technology NAS DS918+.
The initial cost was formidable, but I was able to dispel my concerns about storing my precious data at once with a safe method of storage without the burden of paying a lifetime fee even with anxiety about data storage. I don't think we need to worry about storage capacity for a long time with 16 terabytes of 4 bays. Besides, it is not just for data storage. Using the download station, you can download the torrent file on your NAS on your own and save the downloaded file on your own. In a way, it seems very irresponsible. 여러대의 시스템이나 서버를 돌릴때 파일동기화하는데 많이씁니다.
가족 사진, 문서, 개인 자료들 보관할수도 있고, 형상관리(SVN, GIT 등) 서버, DB, apache, tomcat, nodeJS 등의 개발 관련 활용도 가능하고, 멀티 디바이스 (PC, Mobile, TV 등)에서 File 열람 / 동영상 시청 / 음악 재생 등을 할수 있지용 저는 위와 같은 용도로 사용하려고 지금 NAS 구매 준비중입니다. 차이가 나는건 하드웨어 스펙이 일반 웹 서버와 갭차가 있다는건데요.가벼운 웹어플리케이션 띄우고 활용하는데는 큰 문제는 없어 보입니다. 나아가서는 나스로 1차 저장소 구축 한 후에 나스 한대 더 구입해서 2차 백업용도로 쓰려고 생각하고 있어요 (요즘 랜섬웨어가 너무 무서워서요 ㅠㅠ)
제 주용도는 torrent 시딩 머신, 웹 서버, FTP 정도 입니다. 다른 기능도 좀 있지만 개인으로 쓰는 것은 위의 3가지가 젤 많은 것 같아요. 해외에 있을 때 가끔 토렌트가 막힌 나라에서 NAS 다운 받게 만들고 FTP로 다운로드 받는 식으로 쓰고 대용량 파일 공유가 필요할 때 웹서버로 링크를 공유하는 형식 또는 블로그의 이미지, BGM에 쓰기도 하구요. 집에서는 기가비트랜을 구축해둬서 네트워크 드라이브로 일반 하드 드라이브처럼 씁니다.
NAS(Network Attached Storage)는 네트워크로 연결된 저장 공간이라고 생각 하시면 됩니다. 로컬의 스토리지가 아닌... 주 용도는 저장 공간을 원격의 여러 이기종 시스템이 공유하기 위한 목적입니다. 예를 들어 분산 환경으로 웹서버가 여러대로 분리하고 어플리케이션 서버도 여러대로 분리되어 있는 경우 누군가가 웹사이트에 접속해서 파일을 업로드 하면 다른 모든 서버에서도 업로드된 파일을 읽을 수 있어야 합니다. 로컬에 스토리지에 저장해서는 불가능 하죠. 이런 것을 해결 하기 위해 제안된 방식입니다. 예전에는 로컬 네트워크도 속도가 느려서 문제가 좀 있었는데... 요즘은 대부분 fiber 체널로 연결해서 성능 좋은 nas는 로컬 스토리지에서 읽는 것 보다 더 빠르게 데이터를 읽어 온다고 합니다.
NAS의 원래 목적은 파일 서버의 목적인 데이터의 공유였다. 하지만 지금은 기능이 계속해서 늘어나 영상스트리밍, 트랜스코딩 스트리밍, 토렌트, 데이터 백업, 채팅 봇, 음악 스트리밍, 가상머신, 이메일 서버, 웹페이지 호스팅 등 용도가 다양해지는 상황. 사실상 저전력 저성능 및 ISP와 별도 회선을 갖추지 않는다는 특징을 제외하면 사실상 서버와 다를 게 없고, 요즘엔 그나마도 경계가 애매해지는 상황. 최근 도입되는 NAS가 공통적으로 Linux로 구동되고 있는 상황이라 유능한 개발자들이 GitHub 등에 패키지화된 여러 프로그램을 업로드하고 이를 통해 수많은 기능을 도입할 수 있다. 특히 서로 다른 하드웨어에서 동일하게 구동하기 위해 Docker를 이용한 가상화 환경을 도입하면서 하드웨어 편차를 고려할 필요성도 상당 부분 사라진 상황. Docker Hub에 있는 수많은 기능 중 상당수를 NAS에서도 사용할 수 있다. 이러한 기능들을 제대로 활용하려면 아무래도 인텔 x86 CPU를 탑재한 NAS를 사용하는 게 가장 유리하다.

본인이 생각하시는 클라우드 서비스를 사설적으로 직접 만든다고 보시면 됩니다.클라우드는 년단이 월단위로 계속 정액 결제를 해야 하지만 NAS는 제품이 고장나지 않는 이상은 한번 돈들여서 구축후 전기비 외엔 큰 돈이 안들어 간다는 장점이 있죠. 특히 같은 가격 대비 장기적으로 보았을때 NAS가 가성비가 좋긴 합니다만.....관리를 어떻게 하느냐 / 사용 용도 / 빈도 등을 따져 보셔서 클라우드 VS NAS 선택을 하시는게 좋다고 봅니다. NAS는 왠만해선 관리를 안해도 되긴 하지만 장비에 대한 이해도가 아예 없고, 주기적인 관리를 안하실꺼라면 차짓 데이터 소실 위험, 수명단축의 위험도도 같이 따라 옵니다 NAS는 Network Attached Storage 네트워크 결합 스토리지. 쉽게 말하면 LAN으로 연결하는 외장 하드디스크 입니다. 파일을 인터넷을 통해서 공유, 업다운도르, 보관을 하고 있죠 공유목적으로 OR 파일 저장 목적으로 사용하죠

전 컴터 C: SSD 한개만 있고 나머지 DEF.. 등은 네트워크 드라이브로 나스를 마운트해서 쓰고 있어요. 기가랜으로 내부망 구성해서 속도에 불만은 없습니다. 노트북도 마찬가지로 C:만 빼고 나머진 네트워크로 마운트해놨구요. 이게 주 용도고 그외 나머지로는 외부에서 폰으로 나스에 토렌트 추가해놓고 다운로드. 와이파이 연결시 자동 동기화해서 사진 및 데이터 백업되게 (이걸로 폰 분실했을때 자료는 그대로 살아있어서 그나마 다행이었네요)dlna 사용해서 거실 티비로 나스에 있는 영화보기정해진 시간마다 첫번째 하드에 있는 데이터 두번째 하드로 백업..등등?
일반 '외장하드'는 한 번에 1대의 PC만 연결하고 사용할 수 있지만, NAS는 동일한 네트워크로 연결된 가정이나 사무실 내에서는 누구나 쉽게 접속해서 사용할 수 있는 것이 차이점이다. 특히 외장하드를 연결할 수 없는 스마트폰이나 태블릿에서도 네트워크를 통해 접속해 각종 자료를 주고받거나 열람할 수 있다. 가정에 설치된 NAS를 활용하는 가장 좋은 방법은 가족이 각자의 스마트폰이나 태블릿 등으로 찍은 사진이나 영상 등 추억이 담긴 각종 데이터를 한 곳에 모아 놓는 용도다. 여기 저기 분산되어있는 가족 사진이나 영상을 NAS로 모아두면 관리하기도 편할 뿐더러, 집안에서 쉽게 공유할 수 있다. 나스에 저장한 사진은 집안에서뿐 아니라 멀리 떨어져 있는 친지나 친구, 지인과도 쉽고 간편하게 공유할 수 있다. 아이들의 성장하는 모습을 담은 사진이나 영상을 떨어져 사는 부모님이나 친지에게 보여드리거나, 여행지에서 찍은 사진 등을 지인에게 따로 조용히 보여주고 싶을 때 안성맞춤이다. 시놀로지 NAS의 경우 사진이나 짧고 간단한 순간 영상 등을 쉽게 관리 및 공유할 수 있는 '포토 스테이션(Photo Station)'이라는 전용 애플리케이션을 제공한다. NAS에 있는 곡을 스마트폰이나 태블릿으로 다운받으면 인터넷이 연결되지 않은 오프라인 상태에서도 음악 감상이 가능하다. 가사 정보가 있는 곡의 경우 화면에 가사까지 표시하기 때문에 움직이는 노래방(?)처럼 사용도 가능하다.

My main use is torrent seeding machine, web server, FTP. There are some other functions, but I think the above three are the most common. Sometimes when you're overseas, you'll get a NAS download in a country with blocked torrents, you'll download it as FTP, and you'll share a link to a web server or an image of your blog, or BGM when you need to share a large file. At home, we have gigabit LANs built, so we use them as network drives, just like regular hard drives.
Think of network attached storage (NAS) as network attached storage. Not local storage... The primary purpose is to share storage space with multiple remote heterogeneous systems. For example, if you have multiple Web servers and multiple application servers separated by a distributed environment, you need to be able to read the uploaded files from all the other servers when someone accesses the website and uploads the files.
It's impossible to store it locally on storage. It's a suggested way to solve this. There used to be some problems with the slow speed of the local network... Nowadays, most high-performance nas, connected to a fiber channel, reads data faster than is read from local storage.
The original purpose of the NAS was to share data, which was the purpose of the file server.
